Comment | I completely support the Governor's call to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2020; I'd prefer even a higher goal. The most promising way to reach this goal is to give consumers the choice to buy Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), so I am greatly dismayed to learn that your agency is considering reducing the number of ZEVs required of automakers by 90%, settling for only 2,500 from 2012-2014. I am writing to ask that you require at least the full 25,000 ZEVs that automakers had promised for 2012-2014. I support stronger sanctions for high-emission vehicles, including having them impounded and scrapped. In the interim, I urge you to create a separate requirement for plug-in hybrids that lets them replace the dirtiest vehicles in CARB's regulations, rather than the cleanest ZEVs. Cleaner air for everyone is an essential goal. More and better choices will help us reach it. Thank you for your attention. |
