Comment | To whom it may concern: I am writing in regardds to an article I read in the San JoseMercury News this morning regarding the proposal from the CARB to weaken the zero emmision vehicle mandate from 25,000 to 2,500 vehicles per year. When are you goingto learn? T he car companies and the fuel companies must be required, and for their own good, to successfully produce zero emmisssion vehicles. You folks didn't come out so well in that "Who killed the electric car" documentary? Are you going to do the same thing again? If we had forced the car companies to stay on track with the production of electric cars back then, would we be facing $3.50/gallon gas now? For that matter, would our domestic car companies be having their lunches handed to them by Japanese and Korean car manufacturers as our domestic dealerships have swollen lots of pickups and suv's? My wife and I are considering the purchase of a new car over the summer, my inclination is to buy domestic, but the imports are the companies that have the lead in cleaner cars, your board bears part of the blame for the economic situation facing the state and nation today. You have another chance to do what is right and hold the line against convenience and profit over long term advantage I am strongly opposed to the proposed changes and urge their rejection. Thank you for your time. David Wolf San Leandro, CA |
