Subject | March 27, 2008 ZEV Program Proposal |
Comment | To whom it may concern: What happened to the EV1 and other all electric vehicles on April 24, 2003 was an absolute disgrace. California was leading the way into the future of automotive technology. A future free of foreign oil and polluted air. Instead, by backing down, automakers were allowed to literally scrap their EV car programs. On March 27, you have the opportunity to stand fast versus automakers and oil companies. Please require the full 25,000 ZEVs that automakers had promised for 2012-2014, and create a separate requirement for plug-in hybrids that lets them replace the dirtiest vehicles in CARB's regulations, rather than the cleanest ZEVs. America needs strong leaders to brave the path to a clean future. It starts with you. Please don't let the same mistake be made twice. EV and PHEV vehicles can be made today. The technology exists today, not in the future. Don't fall prey to the hydrogen dream. The future starts now. Lead the way and America will follow. |
