EVSE Standards Technology Review: I believe that you can only fully understand the inadequacy of the current system for public charging if you have an electric vehicle and take a road trip. In my experience, the wireless contact/payment system does not work at all with credit cards. The credit cards, inserted via a chip, require a lot of fiddling and seem to function about 30% of the time. Moreover, the charging cables do not always reach, they are heavy, and the kiosks are often defunct. . . once you can find them. There is only room for improvement and accountability here, on all levels.
