The County of Sonoma is an official partner agency and houses the local County of Sonoma Green Business Program. The Sonoma Green Business Program provides technical assistance for small- to medium-sized businesses to make lasting changes that save water and electricity, and reduce waste and pollution. The Program benefits and grows the green economy through a marketplace for Certified Green Businesses. The Sonoma Green Business Program directly meets the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) funding priorities. The GGRF favors investing in projects that result in measurable greenhouse gas emission reductions and multiple environmental benefits while providing economic value and extending programs to disadvantaged communities. Supporting small businesses with the GGRF through the Green Business Program furthers Sonoma County’s goals. It is an important issue of the Sonoma County Legislative Platform to combat the impacts of climate change. The County supports funding for greenhouse gas reduction and for new and innovative programs and projects that support this goal. As such we strongly encourage the panel of the Cap-and-Trade Auction Proceeds Investment Plan to include a small business element in the Investment Plan so that programs like ours can truly grow the green economy throughout California. Thank you for considering these important issues.
