Comment:
Management practices, especially where fire safety and control are concerned, must treat differing habitat types in different and appropriate ways. The present lumping of coniferous forests and scrub lands will result in practices inimical to one, if not both. Natural fire regimes in these two habitats are not the same, nor will be their needs post fire. Lumping could result in the conversion of scrub lands into ruderal grasslands prone to constant threats of fire, to say nothing of the loss of their biodiversity that includes many species endemic to it. Please revisit this unwise strategy. Go with recommended management practices drawn from sound scientific research and then recirculate the proposed scenarios.c
