Subject: Forests vs shrublands
Comment:
I strongly object to the merger of conifer forests and shrublands into a single category. Our Southern California chaparral should not be victim to prescribed burns, as the result will be more invasive grasses and significantly damaged ecosystems. In fact, the Southern portions of the state have had too many fires and what we need instead is restoration of oak woodlands and sage scrub--not more fire. CARB should withdraw its fatally flawed scenarios, provide a separate category for shrublands, and consult with recognized outside experts on appropriate management strategies. After scientifically, sound scenarios are recirculated, a focus on conservation and restoration, carbon sequestration, and climate resilience will be appropriate. Thank you for considering my comments.
