Carbon capture and storage is a costly strategy using unproven technology. Moreover, other than carbon dioxide, it does not mitigate the harmful and air polluting gases and particles that are emitted during the extraction, transportation, refining, use and disposal of fossil fuels. It does nothing to lessen the air quality issues we suffer in the Los Angeles area, especially in the communities, often underserved communities, located in close proximity to oil and gas facilities. Please focus your efforts on phasing out fossil fuel production and replacing fossil fuels with clean renewable energy such as solar, wind, hydropower, and geothermal energy.
