Subject: CARB policies to achieve a 50% reduction in fuel use
Comment:
Reducing fuel use by 50% by 2030 is certainly an admirable goal but I would suggest that policies to get to that goal must be examined carefully and with legislative oversight. The policies mandated by CARB may hurt the poor and will cost California jobs if not done carefully. In addition California is currently in dire straits when it comes to the price of fuel at the pumps with the advent of Cap & Trade and fuel taxes going through the roof. We fear that the costs of fuel will go up to try and motivate drivers to drive lees and feel that penalizing drivers is not the way to go. In addition, not many of California drivers can afford to go out and buy an electric car, not now and not in 15 years. We also fear the rationing of fuel and that is not good either. Moving folks from their single family homes into high-rise apartments to satisfy bureaucrats who favor Sustainable Communities is an attack on our freedoms. I hope that you will do what is right and good for the folks
