Comment:
Charge Across Town has participated in Electrify America's Cycle 1
and Cycle 2 Investment Plan, as recipients of funding towards
experiential electric vehicle ride and drive events for low income
and disadvantaged communities. EA's funding has allowed us to
expand our work to portions of California that are most impacted by
pollution and environmental degradation, poor air quality and
health issues. Thanks to Electrify America's early support of these
programs, Charge Across Town has been able to help people get rid
of dirty, unsafe combustion engine vehicles and replace their cars
with clean, plug in electric cars. By hosting ride and drives at
community events throughout the central valley, and working with
local news and used EV car dealerships, we have demonstrated that
electric cars are safe, affordable and a great choice for every
lifestyle. Additionally, we have collected survey data from
2018-2020 tracking EV attitudes and behavior change. In 2020 during
the pandemic, when all in person events were put on hold, Electric
America championed a virtual approach to ride and drives, where we
created multi-lingual videos depicting all aspects of EVs and the
driving experience. The video series has continued in 2021 as we
ramp up later in the year for in-person events.
Without Electrify America's funding and ongoing support for our
efforts, Charge Across Town would be unable to provide an "EVs for
Equity" program in the central valley as well as the Bay Area.
We look forward to participating in EA's Cycle 3 outreach and
educational programs for low income and disadvantaged communities.
