It seems evidently clear that the dairy industry needs to be a primary focus in the fight against air and water pollution . If you have programs that create incentives for digesters , we will never achieve the benefits we need . Dairy and livestock accounts for more than half of Calif methane emissions . The generous amount of subsidies for dairy derived methane will persuade dairies to expand , adding more cows to produce more manure . PROFITS OVER PEOPLE . Calif has allocated $350 million to build digesters . The digester program would undercut the states overarching environmental goals and the public health priorities . Biogas is being falsely marketed as a renewable energy solution to solve the problems of an already polluting industry. CARB has the opportunity to solve the imminent threats of pollution that pertains directly to dairies . |
