The first Agriculture Stakeholder Working Group meeting on
Scoping Plan Development has been tentatively scheduled for
January 23, 2008 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in room 550 at the
CalEPA building in Sacramento.

AB 32, the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, requires the
Air Resources Board to prepare a Scoping Plan for achieving the
maximum technologically feasible and cost-effective reductions
in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020.  Development of the Scoping
Plan will include an analysis of potential emission reductions
across all sectors including agriculture.

The Agriculture Stakeholder Working Group is being formed to
provide an opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to the
development of the AB 32 Scoping Plan.  Specifically, the group
will be providing input on potential strategies for the
agricultural sector and aiding in the evaluation of possible 
alternative implementation mechanisms such as markets or
incentives.  

At the January 23 meeting, ARB will kick off the stakeholder
process by providing an overview of Scoping Plan development and
the role of the sector workgroup.  The main topic of discussion
will be focused on potential approaches for achieving greenhouse
gas reductions from the agricultural sector.
