semiconductors -- Updates to the Semiconductor Emissions Estimate Calculator Webpage

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 17:16:00
The Semiconductor Emissions Estimate Calculator for the 2010 –
2015 calendar years (2010 Calculator) has been updated and the
Semiconductor Emissions Estimate Calculator for the 2016 – 2021
calendar years (2016 Calculator) has been added.

The 2010 Calculator and the 2016 Calculator are both designed to
assist in benchmarking and calculating greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions from semiconductor operations in California. The
calculator can be used to help owners and operators calculate the
2006 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Tier 2b
emission calculations, required by the semiconductor regulation.

To report emissions conducted in the 2010 through 2015 calendar
years, owners and operators should use the 2010 Calculator. To
report emissions conducted in the 2016 through 2021 calendar
years, owners and operators should use the 2016 Calculator.

Both of these calculators are available here:

The use of the calculators are not mandatory, but help to
simplify reporting for industry, promote consistency in reports,
and lessen the review time for district personnel. The owners
and operators are still ultimately responsible for submitting
accurate and complete reports in accordance with the
semiconductor regulation.

Background

The semiconductor regulation is designed to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions from semiconductor operations and was adopted pursuant
to the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (Health &
Safety Code, sections 38500 et. seq.). This regulation became
effective January 1, 2010.
