TRU ATCM Advisory 08-03-R2 - Use of BIC Codes and Recording Marks in Place of ARB Identification Numbers has been posted to the ARB website. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has posted the revised transport refrigeration unit (TRU) Advisory 08-03-R2, which explains how companies may elect to use their BID-Codes and recording marks in place of ARB Identification Numbers (IDN). This revision removes the allowed use of company equipment numbers on truck and trailer TRUs in place of the ARB IDN because truck and trailer company numbers are not truly unique across all companies. Company equipment numbers cannot be used in place of ARB IDNs. Truck and trailer TRU owners must apply for an ARB IDN if the unit is California-based, and must apply the ARB IDN to both sides of the TRU housing.
