Posted: 02 Oct 2008 14:37:06
Extension of the International Truck & Engine Corporation DPX™ Catalyzed Soot Filter System for use with B20 fuel on heavy-duty on-road vehicles. The ARB has verified the International Truck & Engine Corporation DPX™ Catalyzed Soot Filter System for 1994-2003 model year, Navistar (International) diesel engines used in on-road applications operating on ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel or B20 fuel. B20 is defined, based on volume, as a mixture of 20 percent neat biodiesel (B100) that complies with ASTM D6751 and 80 percent diesel (e.g. not alternative diesel fuels) with a sulfur content of no more than 15 parts per million by weight. The DPX Catalyzed Soot Filter System uses a catalyzed diesel particulate filter to achieve a 85 percent reduction in particulate matter emissions qualifying it for a Level 3 verification. Specific engine families and conditions for which the DPX Catalyzed Soot Filter System have been approved may be found in the Executive Order which may be found on the ARB website at http://www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/verdev/verdev.htm .
