Air Quality May Force Rescheduling Of UCLA-SDSU Game. The Rose
Bowl is not directly threatened by wildfire, but air quality
concerns could cause Saturday's game between San Diego State and
UCLA to be rescheduled. The Los Angeles Times reported that UCLA
coach Rick Neuheisel said a decision will be made Wednesday on
whether to play the game as scheduled, but UCLA spokesman Marc
Dellins said Tuesday afternoon that the university is not tied to
a Wednesday decision. Posted.

Air Quality Declared Unhealthy In Two Counties. The South Coast
Air Quality Management District declared air quality to be
unhealthy in foothill cities closest to where wildfires were
burning in the Angeles National Forest and Yucaipa area on
Tuesday. "It is unhealthy, even all the way up to hazardous, from
Yucaipa in the east to Santa Clarita in the San Fernando Valley,"
said Sam Atwood, spokesman for the AQMD. "And this is going to
last as long as the fires are burning and possibly a day or two
beyond that because of residual smoke in the area." Posted.

WILLIAMS: Climate Change -- What's In It For Me? Regular readers
of The Washington Times are all too familiar with the
back-and-forth debate between those who favor federal legislation
to curb greenhouse-gas emissions and those who view the measure

Will Support For Cap-And-Trade Energy Tax Melt Away? It's
Costly, But Won't Help The Environment. People aren’t willing to
pay much to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases to fight
global warming, according to a Washington Post-ABC News Poll. 52
percent said they would support a law that “significantly lowered
greenhouse gas emissions” — but only if it cost them less than
$10 a month. Only 39 percent said they would support such a law
if it cost them $25 a month — which is vastly less than it would
actually cost. Posted.

Should You Paint Your Roof White To Fight Global Warming?
Recently, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu suggested one way
homeowners could help fight global warming was to paint their
roofs white to reflect sunlight. Not surprisingly, homeowners are
balking. Painting your roof white could reduce your cooling
costs, but what will the neighbors say? And what happens in the
winter, when additional heat is needed inside your home?

When It Comes To Mpg, I'm Buying The 'Hype'. LOS ANGELES—The
crippling success of Cash for Clunkers, the sustained popularity
of the Toyota Prius and splashy headlines afforded the 230-mpg
Chevy Volt would seem to signal a fuel-efficiency awakening in
the United States not seen since the energy crisis of the 1970s.
