Seven Global Warming Misconceptions. A variety of misconceptions
about human-induced global warming still make the rounds of media
and cocktail conversation. The 26 world class climatologists who
wrote the Copenhagen Diagnosis decided to dispel seven of the
most common of them in the report, which is the first
comprehensive update of leading peer-reviewed climate science in
the three years since the last report of the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change was finalized. Posted.

EPA Weighs Going After Big Carbon Polluters. With the Senate
caught up in an intense health care debate, it is becoming
increasingly likely that the upper chamber will not take up a

Turning a Lens on Climate Change. After studying geography in
college, James Balog embarked on a nature-photography career that
merged his love of mountaineering, science and art. Mr. Balog has
photographed everything from nuclear missile silos in the
agrarian West to figure studies of chimps. His latest project,
"Extreme Ice Survey," is a time-lapse photographic record of
climate change as seen through glacial melting at 15 sites in the
northern hemisphere. Edited excerpts follow. Posted.

Is a change in climate unstoppable? It sounds utterly contrary
to what we might think: If we use less energy, civilization will
actually increase the emissions blamed for global warming. That's
one of the controversial findings of the University of Utah's Tim
Garrett, who applied simple physics in an unconventional way to
look at worldwide energy use. Posted.

Biggest California CO2 emitter is… The biggest greenhouse gas
emitter in California isn’t in California. A string of PacifiCorp
power plants are the biggest emitters of carbon dioxide included

Does “Cool Cars” Rule Block Wireless Signal? Cali Says No. A new
rule in California meant to help keep vehicles cool in the sun
(and thus cut the need for fuel-chugging air conditioners) could
interfere slightly with signal reception for GPS devices, but
probably won’t block most mobile phone signals. Posted.
