The regulation on sulfur hexafluoride emissions has been approved
by the Office of Administrative Law and is in effect as of
January 1, 2010. The final regulation can be found at:

We would like to note a few important upcoming registration,
recordkeeping, and reporting deadlines:

Research Facilities:

· Research facilities must register with ARB before using sulfur
hexafluoride for a restricted purpose.

· Registered research facilities must also keep information for
2010 that will be necessary for reporting by March 30, 2011.

Distributors:

· Register with ARB on or before March 30, 2010

  o A template letter is available at the above listed website

· Provide a copy of this regulation (available at the above
website and also mailed upon registration) to all known
purchasers of sulfur hexafluoride by March 30th 2010 

  o Some exception do apply – see section 95345 for details

  o Documentation of mailings must be kept

· Maintain records for each sale or supply of sulfur
hexafluoride.

· Provide an annual report of sales of sulfur hexafluoride
beginning March 30th 2011.  

  o Reports must include total quantity sold and a record of
transactions including the date and quantity of each sale.

Purchasers and Users:

· Keep records showing the annual quantity of sulfur
hexafluoride purchased and used, starting March 30th 2010.
