Posted: 21 Dec 2011 09:05:13
The California Air Resources Board (ARB or Board) staff has revised the 2008 Lower-Emission School Bus Program Guidelines. This Mail-Out provides guidance to air districts and public school districts participating in the Lower-Emission School Bus Program (LESBP). It is intended to incorporate recently chaptered legislation, Assembly Bill (AB) 462 (Lowenthal) and AB 470 (Halderman), provide the emission criteria for Calendar Year 2012 replacement contracts, clarify tracking and reporting requirements of earned interest, clarify cost-caps, and correct School Bus Program Advisory 08-001. Mail-Out #MSC 11-37 can be found at the LESBP Advisories / Mail-outs page: http://www.arb.ca.gov/bonds/schoolbus/advisory/advisory.htm For more information on the Lower-Emission School Bus Program, please go to: http://www.arb.ca.gov/bonds/schoolbus/schoolbus.htm If you have any additional questions, please contact Janet Page at (916) 324-1988 or jpage@arb.ca.gov. Background: Proposition 1B, which was approved by the voters in 2006, enacts the Highway Safety, Traffic Reduction, Air Quality, and Port Security Bond Act of 2006. This bond act authorizes $200 million for replacing and retrofitting school buses through the Lower-Emission School Bus Program. Funds shall be available upon appropriation by the Legislature for the Lower-Emission School Bus Program. The goal of the Lower-Emission School Bus Program is to provide cleaner, safer transportation for children in California.
