sb375 -- ARB Public Workshop on SCAG’s Draft Sustainable Communities Strategy

Posted: 10 Feb 2012 12:00:40
The Air Resources Board (ARB) will hold a public workshop on
Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from approximately 1:30 until 3:30 pm
on the draft Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS) for the
Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG). Start
time is approximate, as the workshop will begin upon conclusion
of the SCAG workshop on the SCS draft Program Environmental
Impact Report (PEIR).

The workshop is scheduled to take place in the SCAG Board Room,
located at 818 W. Seventh Street, 12th Floor, Los Angeles, CA
90017.

State law (SB 375) assigns ARB the responsibility to set
greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for each regional SCS
and to determine whether implementation of the SCS would achieve
the target.  Some ARB Board members will be in attendance;
however, as this workshop is not a meeting of the Board, less
than a quorum will be in attendance and no Board action will be
taken. In addition to this workshop, ARB staff plans to present
an informational item to the Air Resources Board on the SCAG SCS
at its March 22, 2012 meeting.

Background information on the Sustainable Communities Strategy
program is available at ARB’s website at:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/sb375/sb375.htm The technical
methodology for ARB staff’s review of an SCS can be found at:

Information on SCAG’s draft RTP/SCS is available online at SCAG’s
