carpa -- Webinar: Smoke Management: Preparing and Informing the Public
Posted: 13 Apr 2012 09:32:31
Please join the Wildland Fire Lessons Learned Center for "Smoke Management: Preparing and Informing the Public (Lessons from SWA Fire Season 2011)" Tuesday, April 17 at 1pm MDT (12 noon PDT). For several months during 2011, wildfires throughout the Southwest and Mexico affected air quality across the region with impacts measured hundreds of miles away. A concerted multi-state interagency air quality coordination effort was initiated which resulted in consistent public messaging on smoke impacts and how impacted communities could protect themselves. Please join the webinar to hear about lessons learned on consistent messaging, deployment of equipment, and the utilization of decision support tools. For more information or to register, please visit https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/456122216 If you are not able to join the webinar, an archived broadcast will be available at http://www.wildfirelessons.net/ ____________________________________________________________ The California Air Response Planning Alliance (CARPA) was formed in 2006 by the California Air Resources Board, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and the Governor's Office of Emergency Services. CARPA's mission is to provide actionable incident response information to protect public health and the environment from the impacts of accident or deliberate releases of hazardous compounds into the air.
