The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has posted Mail-Out #MSC 14-12, titled “The Lower-Emission School Bus Program – Clarification of Dismantling Requirements.” This Mail-Out provides guidance to air districts and eligible school bus owners participating in the Lower-Emission School Bus Program to assist in expediting the replacement of school buses by clarifying dismantling language in Mail Out #MSC 11-16. The Mail-Out may be found on ARB’s webpage at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/bonds/schoolbus/advisory/advisory.htm . For more information about the Lower-Emission School Bus Program, please go to: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/schoolbus/schoolbus.htm . If you have questions regarding this Mail-Out, please contact Ms. Kimya Lambert, Air Pollution Specialist, at (916) 323-2507, or via email at kimya.lambert@arb.ca.gov . Background: The primary goal of ARB's Lower-Emission School Bus Program is to reduce school children's exposure to both cancer-causing and smog-forming pollution. The program provides grant funding for new, safer school buses and to put air pollution control equipment (i.e., retrofit devices) on buses that are already on the road. California is in a drought emergency. Visit www.SaveOurH2O.org for water conservation tips.
