ALISO CANYON

California regulators limited in fines against stealthy gas
leakers. The price of pollution could be going up for a company
whose workers are accused of illegally venting natural gas from a
hidden pipeline during of the Porter Ranch gas leak. Employees of
Termo Company secretly installed a 300-foot-long underground pipe
and used it to vent gas into the air during the Porter Ranch
leak.

CLIMATE CHANGE

UN: After hot 2015, new normal is hotter world temperatures.
Hotter weather appears to be here to stay, El Nino or not, the
U.N. weather agency said Monday, warning that the Paris climate
accord last year shouldn't give way to complacency about global
warming.

Lead US climate negotiator stepping down. The Obama
administration's lead negotiator for last year's global climate
deal is stepping down. Todd Stern has been the State Department's
envoy for climate talks since 2009. His work culminated with last
year's Paris agreement designed to reduce carbon emissions and
stem the effects of climate change.

New butterfly adapted to Arctic weather. A new species of
butterfly may hold clues to Alaska's geological history and the
changing climate. University of Florida lepidopterist Andrew
Warren recently identified the Tanana Arctic butterfly, which may
have evolved from the offspring of two Arctic-adapted species.
All three species lived in the Beringia region before the last
ice age, Warren believes.

LUMBER LIQUIDATORS

Lumber Liquidators settles with California clean air agency. 
Lumber Liquidators Holdings Inc. said it had reached a settlement
with the California Air Resources Board, the state's clean air
agency, to resolve an inquiry into the company's laminate
flooring products sourced from China. The agency concluded its
review with no formal finding of violation or admission of
wrongdoing by Lumber Liquidators, the company said in a
regulatory filing on Tuesday.

gas to Europe. Swiss petrochemicals giant Ineos Group Holdings SA
plans to accept the first American shipment of a type of shale
gas to Europe on Wednesday—a milestone that marks the opening up
of a new market for American energy producers trying to sell a

Natural Gas Rises on Weather Outlook. Concerns about oversupply
cap gains. Natural-gas prices rose Tuesday as traders considered
forecasts for colder weather in the next two weeks, but concerns

recently rose 3.2 cents, or 1.8%, to $1.860 a million British
thermal units on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Electric cars will overtake plug-in hybrids, says Henrik Fisker.
Danish car designer Henrik Fisker appears to have moved on from
his eponymous company and the Karma plug-in luxury sedan. Fisker
Automotive is now Karma Automotive, and is working its way back
from bankruptcy under the wing of Chinese automotive supplier

Kentucky's AG sues Volkswagen for emissions-rigging scheme.
Kentucky's attorney general has sued Volkswagen, claiming the
automaker's emissions-rigging scheme violated the state's
consumer protection law. Attorney General Andy Beshear said
Tuesday that the suit filed in a state court seeks civil
penalties totaling millions of dollars, plus restitution for
nearly 3,800 vehicle owners in Kentucky.

regulator has ordered Southern California's largest gas and power

Rialto home gets solar with help of Cal Poly Pomona students.
Solar Spring Break is happening now. Twenty Cal Poly Pomona
students are bringing solar power to Rialto.
The students are “giving back to their local communities,”

Spring Break brings solar power to low-income households in the

Australia announces $1bn clean energy fund to invest in emerging
technologies. The new fund will receive the money over a decade
from the $10bn in borrowings already allocated to the Clean

billion salt-powered solar facility is powering area homes and

The United States will probably consume a record amount of
gasoline in 2016, passing the previous peak set in 2007, and the
