SAFEGUARDING CALIFORNIA: PUBLIC HEALTH IMPLEMENTATION ACTION PLAN RELEASED The Climate Change and Health Team of the CDPH Office of Health Equity is pleased to announce the release of the “Public Health Chapter of Safeguarding California: Implementation Action Plans.” • Safeguarding California: Implementation Action Plans: http://resources.ca.gov/docs/climate/safeguarding/Safeguarding%20California-Implementation%20Action%20Plans.pdf • Public Health Chapter: http://resources.ca.gov/docs/climate/safeguarding/Public%20Health%20Sector%20Plan.pdf California is leading the way on greenhouse gas emissions reduction, but even if we reduce our climate polluting emissions, climate impacts are and will continue to occur, requiring preparation and adaptation. The California Natural Resources Agency asked the California Department of Public Health to write a plan to implement the public health-related recommendations of California’s adaptation strategy, called Safeguarding California: Reducing Climate Risk. The public health implementation plan is one of ten sector-specific plans to implement Safeguarding California. This Implementation Plan articulates how the State of California can integrate climate adaptation into its public health planning and work, as well as how the work of other state agencies and other partners can improve public health in the era of climate change. The Climate Change and Health Team welcomes your feedback regarding the plan and about how we can work together to support the resilience of communities facing health impacts of climate change. The Implementation Plans have been informed by extensive public comments gathered over eight months, including at workshops held around the state.
