Attention Small Business Owners and Working Lands Enterprises: USDA Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Grants Available DEADLINE: May 2nd . The USDA is seeking additional grant applications for its Rural Energy for America Program – a grant program that can provide up to 25 percent of the funding for an energy efficiency upgrade or renewable energy installation for your small business. USDA Rural Development’s Vermont and New Hampshire office reports that businesses seeking less than $20,000 in grant money should apply immediately, as of April 26th the office does not have applications on hand to spend the reserved funding for smaller projects. Typical projects include lighting efficiency upgrades, solar panel installations, maple sap reverse osmosis machines, milk chillers, manure digesters and woody biomass furnaces/modern wood heat installations. ATTENTION WORKING LAND ENTERPRISES: A special reminder that the production of wood pellets and wood chips is considered an eligible use for the REAP program. Grant funds may be used to purchase wood chip or wood pellet manufacturing equipment (such as a wood chipper).
