The California Air Resources Board (ARB) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) are working in collaboration to conduct a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) on the impacts of potential cap-and-trade cases in California. An overview of HIA will be provided at the Climate Action Team (CAT) Public Health Workgroup meeting on September 14, 2009, meeting details are available at http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/ab32publichealth/meetings/meetings.htm. On September 21, 2009 ARB and CDPH will kick-off the scoping component of the HIA process. The meeting will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at the Cal/EPA Headquarters building in Sacramento. This will be the first of at least two meetings intended to scope out the health issues for analysis. Throughout the HIA process there will be opportunities for public input. The work products will also be reviewed by an external academic advisory committee. All of the public meetings will be webcast and a call-in line will be provided.
