Date: Fri, 05 Apr 2002 10:42:21 -0800 From: Cheryl Young Subject: arch-ctgs Architectural Coatings List-Server Message The Air Resources Board (ARB) staff will conduct a public consultation meeting to discuss concepts for a voluntary Clean Air Labeling Program on April 19, 2002. The goal of the program would be to give manufacturers an incentive to develop lower emitting products. The program is anticipated to focus on air quality improvement from a wide range of regulated stationary and mobile sources, such as consumer products, motor vehicles, fuels, architectural coatings, combustion sources, and vapor recovery equipment. A label would be awarded to qualifying products, equipment and processes informing consumers of the reduced air pollution impact of those products. The website for ARB's Clean Air Labeling Program can be found at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/BA/airlabel/airlabel.htm To receive future information regarding the Clean Air Labeling Program, please sign up for the AirLabel listserv using the website indicated above. If you have any questions regarding the public consultation meeting or the proposed program, please contact Mr. Steve Giorgi, Manager, Implementation Section, at (916) 322-9148 or Ms. Stella Ling-Taylor at (916) 322-5911. In addition, you can now access a table summarizing the California district coating and general solvent usage rules, with links to the complete rule text. We have posted the Statewide Averaging Guidance Document, which provides coating manufacturers with detailed information on how to participate in this voluntary alternative way to comply with district architectural coatings rules. To view the document, please click on the following link: http://www.arb.ca.gov/coatings/arch/guidancedoc.htm . Also note that we are continuing to update the rulemaking schedules for districts adopting the ARB's 2000 Suggested Control Measure for Architectural Coatings. To date, 15 districts have adopted or amended rules based on the SCM. Please click on the following link to view upcoming workshops or hearings, to view a list of districts that have adopted the SCM, and for links to most districts' new rules: http://www.arb.ca.gov/coatings/arch/meetings/schedule.htm ====================================================================== You are subscribed to the arch-ctgs mailing list. A current ARB research project to determine the photochemical reactivity of key petroleum distillates necessitates further characterization of the distillates you use. This information will also be necessary as we explore the feasibility of a reactivity-based control strategy for architectural coatings. Thus, we are asking you to provide either the ARB bin number, the ASTM Designation, or the petroleum distillate trade name and supplier for each distillate reported. For most respondents, this will require only providing one piece of information for each of the several petroleum distillates you use. Each manufacturer will receive a customized enclosure identifying the exact information needed, with a due date of January 31, 2003. ====================================================================== You are subscribed to the arch-ctgs mailing list.
