Date: Tue, 7 Feb 2006 10:15:29 -0800 Subject: chrome PHASE II - Decorative Chrome Plating Source Test From: mhicks@ARB.ca.gov PHASE II - Decorative Chrome Plating Source Test The ARB will be conducting another source test to evaluate emissions at a decorative chromium plating facility using chemical fume suppressants as the sole source of control. This test will be conducted at Walker Custom Chrome in Shasta Lake beginning February 15. This facility uses Fumetrol 140 as their source of control. The protocol for the test will be similar to the other temporary hood tests already conducted by ARB in Sacramento and Fresno, CA. The protocol for the last test in Fresno, CA is available at the following web address under Phase II: Test Plan - Third Test: http://www.arb.ca.gov/toxics/chrome/etest.htm If you have any comments on the protocol, please contact Robert Barrera at (916) 324-9549 or rbarrera@arb.ca.gov. The proposed changes from the June draft are shown in bold double underline to indicate additions and bold strikeout to indicate deletions. This draft is intended to show the changes made based on comments received at the June public workshops. The proposed emission limit approach has changed. We are now proposing to phase-in best available control technology (BACT) for all facilities, except very small facilities. BACT would mean meeting a hexavalent chromium emission limit of 0.0015 milligrams/ampere-hour. The timing for requiring BACT would be based on throughput and proximity to sensitive receptors. A table showing the proposal is contained on page 16 of the draft regulation. Public workshops are being scheduled for August 21 in Diamond Bar and August 23 in Sacramento. A workshop notice with details related to the workshops will be posted to the website and mailed shortly. For ease of the reader, the draft proposed regulation accompanying the workshop notice will be shown in a single underline/strikeout format. ====================================================================== You are subscribed to the chrome mailing list.
