The study, “Evaluating the Structure and Crashworthiness of a 2020 Model-Year, Mass-Reduced Crossover Vehicle Using FEA Modeling,” was conducted by Lotus Engineering Inc., under contract with the Air Resources Board, and confirms that vehicle mass can be significantly reduced without impacting safety. The study is the most comprehensive study of its kind to date and stands as an important body of work on vehicle lightweighting.
