Date: Thu, 2 Feb 2012 10:32:48 -0800 Subject: compwood -- Compwood - Extension of Sell-through Dates From: acsondes@arb.ca.gov This note is to inform you that the California Air Resources Board staff is extending the sell-through date that affects retailers of finished goods made with pre-Phase 1 (noncompliant) composite wood products. The sell-through dates are also being extended that affect distributors, fabricators, and retailers of finished goods made with Phase 1 (compliant) composite wood products. Regulatory Advisory 12-01 describes these extensions and is posted to our composite wood products website at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/toxics/compwood/outreach/12_01_advisory.pdf. The Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products establishes formaldehyde emission standards for composite wood products, including hardwood plywood, particleboard, medium density fiberboard (MDF), and thin MDF. The Phase 1 emission standards became effective in January 2009, with the more stringent Phase 2 emission standards going into effect between January 2010 and July 2012. The ATCM also applies to finished goods that are made with composite wood products. For more information regarding this ATCM, please see: http://www.arb.ca.gov/toxics/compwood/compwood.htm.
