INCORPORATED CLEARSKY DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER. CONDITIONAL
VERIFICATION OF THE IMPCO TECHNOLOGIES CANADA, INCORPORATED
CLEARSKY DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER



The Air Resources Board (ARB) has modified the conditional
verification for IMPCO Technologies Canada, Incorporated’s
(formally IMPCO Ecotrans Technologies, Incorporated) CLEARSKY
diesel particulate filter (DPF).  The system is a Level 3 plus
actively regenerated diesel emission control system for use with
Comfort Pro auxiliary power units powered by select Kubota Z482
diesel engines with model years between 2005 and 2015.  The
CLEARSKY DPF uses a wall-flow filter with a heating element for
regeneration to achieve an 85 percent reduction in emissions of
diesel particulate matter and is compliant with ARB’s 2009
nitrogen dioxide standard.  Specific conditions for which the
CLEARSKY DPF has been approved are found in the conditional
verification letter on the ARB website at:

MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY REPORT TEMPLATE AND DATA DEFINITION
UPDATES. 

The Air Resources Board (ARB or Board) updated the Manufacturer’s
Warranty Report template and the Manufacturer’s Warranty Report
Data Definitions.  Effective immediately, manufacturers must use
the new template to submit their warranty report.

Background:  The Verification Procedure is used to evaluate

compliance options.  The Procedure requires DECS manufacturers
and the authorized installers to provide yearly warranty reports
or whenever the valid warranty rate exceeds 4% (whichever occurs
first).  Changes to these requirements became effective on
October 1, 2013.

amendments would establish a procedure for approving non-original
equipment manufacturer (OEM) aftermarket diesel particulate
filters (DPF) intended as modified parts for 2007-2009 on-road
heavy-duty diesel engines.

The ARB has verified HUG Engineering USA diesel particulate
filter (DPF) combiKat® CBS Particulate Trap for 1996 and newer
diesel engines used in off-road stationary applications operating
on CARB Diesel fuel. The combiKat® CBS Particulate Trap uses a
passive DPF to achieve an 85 percent reduction in particulate
matter emissions qualifying it for a Level 3.  Specific engine
families and conditions for which the combiKat® CBS Particulate
Trap have been approved may be found in the executive order.

Revisions to the Draft Procedure for Approving Aftermarket Diesel
Particulate Filters (DPF’S). 

Air Resources Board (ARB or Board) has made significant
modifications to the draft procedure for approving aftermarket
diesel particulate filters for 2007-2009 on-road heavy-duty
diesel engines.

BACKGROUND:  On December 4, 2014 and April 7, 2015 ARB staff held
two public workshops relating to a draft procedure for approving
aftermarket DPFs for 2007-2009 on-road heavy-duty diesel engines.
 An aftermarket DPF approval program would allow for additional
options in the market place for the end-user.  Currently,
original equipment manufacturer (OEM) filters are the only option
available to replace DPFs after expiration of the warranty
period.  The procedure will allow ARB to evaluate non-OEM
aftermarket parts for DPFs for 2007-2009 model year heavy-duty
diesel engines to determine if they can be used in place of OEM
devices.

Verification Extension of the Proventia’s Electrically-Heated
Diesel Particulate Filter (EHDPF) for TriPac auxiliary power
units. 

The Air Resources Board (ARB) has extended the verification of
the Proventia EHDPF to include TriPac A that are powered by
certain 2015 model year diesel engines.  The Proventia EHDPF
reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter by at least 85
percent and is designated as a Level 3 Plus system.  Specific
engine families and conditions for which the EHDPF has been
approved may be found in the Executive Order that is posted on
the ARB website at:

Extension of the ESW Technologies (ESWT) ThermaCat off-road
system.  

The Air Resources Board (ARB) has modified ESWT’s ThermaCat 
off-road system to include a parts change.  The ThermaCat
off-road system is verified as a Level 3 Plus diesel emission
control system for use with model year 1996 to 2010, 5 to 15.2
liters, 100 to 350 horsepower off-road diesel engines, except for
those equipped with exhaust gas recirculation systems.  ESWT also
allows diesel particulate filter swapping and ThermaCatTM
off-road system redesignation provided certain conditions are
met.  The ThermaCatTM off-road system uses a silicon carbide
wall-flow filter with a fuel burner for regeneration to achieve
an 85 percent reduction in particulate matter emissions. 
Specific conditions for which the ThermaCat off-road system has
been approved may be found in the Executive Orders which will be
posted within ten days on the ARB website at:
