On October 25, 2007, the Board approved an emission reduction strategy to reduce venting and leaks from oil and gas systems as an early action measure. This designation means that the regulation is scheduled to be adopted by the Board and become enforceable by January 1, 2012. Additional measures for this sector are being evaluated for the overall AB 32 Scoping Plan that the Board must adopt by January 1, 2009. The purpose of this initial workshop is to provide an overview of ARB activity to date, and to discuss concepts to achieve the maximum reduction in GHG emissions that is technically feasible and cost-effective. The workshop will be held at the following time and location: Date: Friday, April 11, 2008 Time: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Location: Byron Sher Auditorium, 2nd floor Address: Cal/EPA Headquarters Building, 1001 I Street, Sacramento Directions to Cal/EPA Headquarters and public transit information can be found at the California Environmental Protection Agency’s web site at: http://www.calepa.ca.gov/epabldg/location.htm To locate the formal workshop notice please follow this link: http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/venting-leaks/meetings/workshopnot-4-11.pdf An agenda and staff presentation will be posted prior to the workshop at the ARB oil and gas/refining sector website at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/scopingplan/oil-gas-sp/oil-gas-sp.htm If you have any questions about the oil and gas production and transmission portion of the workshop, please contact Mr. Jim Nyarady, Manager, Strategy Evaluation Section at (916) 322-8273 or via email at jnyarady@arb.ca.gov If you have any questions about the refinery portion of the workshop, please contact Mr. John Courtis, Manager, Alternative Fuels Section at (916) 323-2661 or via email at jcourtis@arb.ca.gov You are receiving this single arbcombo email because you are a subscriber to or have made a public comment to one or more of the following lists: cc, lcfs, oil-gas-sp, venting-leaks. ====================================================================== You are subscribed to one of the lists aggregated to make this particular ARB combination listserve broadcast. The Energy Commission, the California Air Resources Board, the South Coast Air Quality Management District, and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District are co-sponsoring this conference. This two day conference in Southern California will help to bring public awareness to the current issues and activities underway in the area of improving air quality and its relation to energy production and use, and spur innovative solutions towards a clean and productive future. In spite of groundbreaking efforts to reduce air pollution over the last three decades, California still has some of the worst air quality in the nation. At the same time, California is also experiencing continual increases in the state’s energy demand. By providing improved research, tools, and innovative techniques, the Air Quality Group of the Public Interest Energy Research Environmental Area (PIER-EA) at the California Energy Commission is working to improve air quality while enabling reliable, affordable and efficient energy. This conference will discuss the current issues and activities underway in the area of improving air quality and it's relation to energy production and use, including: * Distributed Generation * Building Characteristics and Indoor Environmental Quality * Innovative Approaches to Electricity and Air Quality Planning * Future Research Directions for Informed Policy Making * Air Quality and Natural Gas * Alternative Transportation Strategies - Air Quality and Climate Change The conference is geared towards mid-level managers of energy and air quality regulatory agencies as well as researchers, and industry such as power producers and equipment manufacturers. Conference Location: South Coast Air Quality Management District 21765 Copley Dr., Diamond Bar CA 91765 Fee Amounts: Registration includes all conference sessions and meals.
