At the webinar, staff will summarize updates that have been made to EMFAC and present updated methodologies from the upcoming EMFAC2017 model. This will be the first public workshop to discuss the development of the EMFAC2017 model. This meeting will be conducted through the GoToWebinar online webinar system and questions from participants will be taken using the webinar software. This event will also be recorded and made available on the ARB web site. Information on how to register for this workshop will be sent out on this listserv at least one week prior to the workshop date. Webinar Information and Background The past several decades have seen dramatic improvements in air quality as a result of regulations that have reduced emissions from stationary and mobile sources. However, substantial additional emissions reductions will be necessary to meet more stringent ozone air quality standards and California’s long-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals. ARB is expanding its mobile source analysis tools to support air quality planning focused on achieving these goals. The EMFAC model is the primary tool ARB uses to assess emissions from on-road vehicles including cars, trucks, and buses. This public webinar workshop will discuss the development of the upcoming EMFAC2017 version of the model. At the webinar, staff will provide a description of the methodologies incorporated and updates made to the model. A subsequent workshop in the Fall will cover model estimates and explain differences between the new estimates and those from the prior version of the model, EMFAC2014. Special Accommodations or Language Assistance If you require special accommodations or need this document in an alternative format (i.e., Braille, large print) or another language, please contact Mr. Stephen Zelinka at (916) 445-2199, or stephen.zelinka@arb.ca.gov as soon as possible, but no later than 10 business days before the scheduled workshop. At the workshop, staff will summarize the proposed updates to the EMFAC2017 model and present draft default results from these updates. This will be the second and final public workshop to discuss the development of EMFAC2017 before its public release in December 2017. The workshop will be held at the following date, time and location: Date: Thursday, November 9, 2017 Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Location: Cal/EPA Headquarter Building Byron Sher Auditorium 1001 I Street Sacramento, CA 95814 -Webcast and Workshop Materials- A live video/audio webcast will be available for those unable to attend in person. The webcast can be accessed at: http://www.calepa.ca.gov/broadcast/ Information on submitting questions or comments will be provided during the webcast for remote participants. The workshop materials will be posted in advance of the workshop at http://www.arb.ca.gov/msei/msei.htm -Workshop Information and Background- The past several decades have seen dramatic improvements in air quality as a result of regulations that reduced emissions from stationary and mobile sources. However, substantial additional emissions reductions will be necessary to meet more stringent ozone air quality standards and California’s long-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals. CARB is expanding mobile source analysis tools to support air quality planning focused on achieving these goals. The EMFAC model is the primary tool that the CARB uses to assess emissions from on-road vehicles including cars, trucks, and buses. This will be the second and last public workshop to discuss the development of latest version of EMFAC. The staff provided a description of the major updates to the model during the first workshop in June. During this final workshop, staff will revisit major updates and provide resulting emissions impact from these updates comparing them to EMFAC2014. -Special Accommodations or Language Assistance- If you require special accommodations or need this document in an alternative format (i.e., Braille, large print) or another language, please contact Dr. Chandan Misra at (916) 323-1503, or chandan.misra@arb.ca.gov as soon as possible, but no later than 10 business days before the scheduled workshop. TTY/TDD/Speech to Speech users may dial 711 for the California Relay Service. If you did not receive this notice directly and would like to receive notices to stay informed of future updates to mobile source emissions inventory tools, please sign up for the “MSEI” listserve at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/listserv/listserv_ind.php?listname=msei -Contact Information- If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Chandan Misra at (916) 323-1503, or chandan.misra@arb.ca.gov ====================================================================== You are subscribed to the msei mailing list.
