From: jjohnson@arb.ca.gov The Air Resources Board (ARB) held a public workshop on November 1, 2016 to discuss strategies to accelerate the market for advanced clean technologies in heavy duty trucks. The workshop topics included three sessions regarding primarily in local truck and last mile delivery applications, truck aerodynamics, and data collection efforts. The presentation slides and a video recording of the workshop can be found on the “Meeting and Events” page of our website at: www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/actruck/actruckmtgs.htm. The discussion on Advanced Clean Local Truck Strategies is at the beginning of the video. ARB staff is currently in the process of working with stakeholders, including the formation of a diverse workgroup consisting of vehicle manufacturers, fleet operators, environmental groups, utility providers, and others. The workgroup will help develop a strategy to incorporate advanced clean technologies in last mile and local delivery truck applications where suited. All workgroup meetings will be open to members and non-members alike, and meeting materials, webcasts, and meeting recordings will be available online. If you wish to apply to become a member of our workgroup, please send an email to paul.arneja@arb.ca.gov with a brief description of your background and how you can contribute to our Advanced Clean Local Truck Workgroup. Background: Achieving California’s long-term air quality, climate, and public health goals will require a transition from the conventional combustion technologies to zero emission everywhere feasible and near-zero emission powered by clean, low-carbon renewable fuels everywhere else. Promoting the development and use of advanced clean trucks will help ARB achieve its emission reduction strategies as outlined in the State Implementation Plan, Sustainable Freight Action Plan, Senate Bill (SB) 350, and Assembly Bill (AB) 32. For more information on the Advanced Clean Local Trucks program, go to www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/actruck/actruck.htm.
