Next week we will have two Chairman’s Seminars. On Wednesday, September 7th , Drs. Eric Fujita, Douglas Lawson, and Jamie Schauer will present information on the Department of Energy’s Gasoline/Diesel PM Split Study. On Thursday, September 8th, Dr. Beate Ritz will make a presentation on “Air Pollution and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes in the South Coast Air Basin of California”. Information on both seminars can be found on the Chairman’s Seminar main website at: www.arb.ca.gov/research/seminars/seminars.htm In order to share the information being given at the ARB Chairman’s Seminar Series with a wide audience, we have utilized several tools to allow interested parties, who cannot attend in person, to view the presentations on the web. Our main tool for outreach is to webcast the presentation, if possible. We always put the slides on the main Chairman’s Seminar website for viewing prior to the start of the presentation so you don’t have to depend on the quality of the webcast to view the fine print. When webcasting isn’t possible, due to conflicts with technical staff schedules or rooms, we are considering putting a digitized recording of the presentation on the website for later viewing. In order to improve our ability to share this important information, we’d like your feedback on the quality of the webcasts and alternative approaches to disseminating the information. On Monday, August 22nd , the Air Resources Board web cast the presentation by Dr. Chowen Wey on Aircraft Particulate Emissions. If you viewed the webcast or others in the past, we’d appreciate your comments on: - Convenience of using the web cast system; - Quality of the video; - Quality of the audio; - Quality of the broadcast (i.e. did operator scan from presenter to slides effectively); - Would recording the webcasts for later viewing be an effective method of broadcast; - Other issues. Your feedback would be appreciated as we would like to make sure the web casting experience is as good as possible. Please send your comments to: Steve Mara at smara@arb.ca.gov For anyone who missed the web cast of the August 22nd seminar by Dr. Wey, we have a copy of the video on the main seminar page at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/research/seminars/seminars.htm Thank you for your time, Richard Bode Chief, Health and Exposure Assessment Branch Research Division, ARB ====================================================================== You are subscribed to the seminars mailing list.
