Due to the extremely large number of subscribers to this service (over 1500 now), the dismantlers prefer that interested parties be limited to only those that actually plan to show at appointments to inspect the vehicles. Please note that most of the cars are only in fair condition, pass smog check, are registered and pass the vehicle eligibility inspection criteria according to local district rules. As far as supplying information on the specifics, the program is primarily for air quality credit generation through the early retirement of high-polluting older vehicles. However, the collector vehicle notice service resulted from the activities of restoration hobbyist in California who participate in preserving California historical vehicles and who have helped facilitate the structure of the program so that everyone gets a chance to inspect the vehicles prior to entry into the retirement program. In that respect, the enterprise operators do not maintain complete VIN or model in their database. They actually do not get this information until the vehicle(s) arrive at their site at which time both you and the dismantler gain the opportunity to find out everything about the vehicle. To repeat a note sent in previous reports, in response to several requests for specific vehicle types in the South Coast Area, as yet, the VAVR automatic notification service does not filter vehicle types, but you should be able to quickly scan the list to determine if what you are looking for is among the list of vehicles. Also, partial VIN numbers are only available for expediency and privacy reasons, and the particular model is not available until you express sincere interest in the vehicle. Please contact me at cbennett@arb.ca.gov if you have any further questions or comments. Thank you, Chuck Bennett Air Resources Engineer Mobile Source Control Division On-Road Controls P.O. The meeting notice and proposed agenda are available at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/planning/sip/sipsummit/2004/2004sipsummit.pdf. If you subscribe to multiple ARB electronic mailing lists, you may receive several copies of this note in our efforts to reach a broad range of air quality stakeholders. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience. More on the Summit In October 2003, the Air Resources Board adopted its 2003 State and Federal Strategy for the California SIP to assist the South Coast, San Joaquin Valley, the Broader Sacramento Metropolitan Area and other nonattainment districts in meeting federal clean air standards by the applicable deadlines. The Board wishes to solicit participation from a broad range of stakeholders in its efforts to identify, develop, and successfully implement new strategies to meet SIP emission reduction targets. You can participate in the Summit by joining us in person or by observing the proceedings via webcast at www.arb.ca.gov. We have organized the Summit into sessions by emission source categories, and, on the second day, by conceptual approaches to achieving pollution control. For each session, ARB staff will frame the discussion by presenting detailed information about the current and forecasted inventory for each source category, what is already planned in the way of emission control measures, and staff’s preliminary thinking about additional strategies that could be employed. Participants will then be invited to address ARB’s Executive team and share their ideas about how to achieve additional emission reductions by 2010. For questions about the Summit, please contact Mr. Bob Fletcher, Chief, Planning & Technical Support Division, at (916) 322-5350. --------------55B518271D0A1FD2BA21EC49 Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Please join us for a two-day Summit on the State Implementation Plan (SIP) – Defining the Path to Clean Air – on January 13-14, 2004 in Sacramento.  The meeting notice and proposed agenda are available at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/planning/sip/sipsummit/2004/2004sipsummit.pdf.
