  This page includes the upcomiong deadlines for the Truck & Bus, TRU, and the Tractor Trailer Greenhouse Gas regulations.

    Truck & Bus
  • - To avoid penalties for a manufacturer delay, order PM/DPF filters by this date to meet January 1, 2017 requirements.
  • - Deadline to apply for a soot filter extension if no filter is available from any manufacturer.

► December 31, 2016 ▼ December 31, 2016
    TRU:
  • All 2009 engine models must meet Ultra-Low-Emissions TRU standard.
  • All 2002 engine models that met Low-Emissions TRU standard in 2009 must now meet Ultra-Low-Emissions TRU standard.

► January 1, 2017 ▼ January 1, 2017
    Tractor-Trailer Greenhouse Gas:
  • Low-rolling resistance tires required on trailers.
  • - Small fleets must meet 100% Smartway Aerodynamic Technology requirements.

  • Truck & Bus:
    All light vehicles with Engine Model Year 1997 need a 2010 or newer model year engine.

  • Owners using any of the following extensions are required to meet a percentage of total fleet compliance:
  • - Second truck in fleets following the Small Fleet provision must meet compliance requirements.
  • - Log Truck provision must meet 40%
  • - NOx exempt must meet 55%
  • - Low-mileage Work Truck must meet 80%

  • All 2008 Engine Models must meet Ultra-Low-Emissions TRU standard.

► January 1, 2016 ▼ January 1, 2016
    Tractor-Trailer Greenhouse Gas:
  • - Large fleets must meet 100%.
  • - Small fleets must meet 75%.

  • Truck & Bus:
    All heavy vehicles with Engine Model Years 94-95 need a 2010 or newer model year engine.
    All light vehicles with Engine Model Year 96 need a 2010 or newer model year engine.

  • Owners using any of the following extensions below are required to meet a percent of total fleet compliance:
  • - Phase-in option must meet 100%
  • - Log truck provision must meet 30%
  • - NOx exempt must meet 40%
  • - Low-mileage construction truck must meet 60%
