ARB Chairman applauds announcement of federal greenhouse gas and fuel economy standards (2017-2025)
SACRAMENTO - Today California Air Resources Board Chairman Mary D. Nichols issued the following statement regarding the standards to reduce greenhouse gases and improve fuel economy for model years 2017-2025 cars and light trucks announced earlier by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"California welcomes this eagerly anticipated federal initiative to dramatically reduce global warming emissions, strengthen American energy security, and save consumers money at the pump. California looks forward to reviewing the federal program, and following up with our regulation in the near future allowing compliance with the federal standard to satisfy California requirements. This will establish one national program to drive innovation and achieve significant greenhouse gas reductions from cars and light trucks through 2025."
