MEDIA ADVISORY: ARB to crack down on Imperial Co. trucks

CALEXICO - The Air Resources Board is working with the CA Highway Patrol to conduct inspections on heavy duty trucks traveling in and around Imperial County. The effort is a follow-up to ARB's successful "Gear Up For Clean Trucks" campaign in August, during which more than 4000 inspections were conducted on vehicles at 40 locations throughout the state.

Measures aimed at cleaning up diesel vehicles include requirements to report fleet information to ARB, employ fuel-saving technology, install diesel soot filters and replace or upgrade aging engines and transport refrigeration units.

WHAT: Truck inspections to check for compliance with state air pollution laws

WHO: California Air Resources Board, California Highway Patrol

WHEN: Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon (ongoing inspections)

WHERE: On CA Highway 7, just south of the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 98. The location is east of Menvielle Road and north of the CHP Calexico Inspection Facility. (Look for a long pull-out area with CHP and Truck Inspections signage.)
