Children's Health Study (CHS) Sites: October 2003 Fire - U.C. Riverside

This page updated September 7, 2010.

Below is a data plot of PM10 mass data for the U.C. Riverside CHS site from October 20 to November 1.
At Riverside extremely high levels of PM10 mass occurred during the period between October 25 and October 29. A cool and rainy weather front came in on October 29 and cleared the smoke from the fires. The cool, wet weather also reduced the ambient levels of air pollution in Riverside to "normal" winter levels as compared to the "normal" summer levels before the fires began. This graph clearly shows the difference between the summer "normal" PM10 mass and the winter "normal" PM10 mass for the Riverside area.

Graph of PM10 mass data from Riverside October 20, 2003 to November 1, 2003.
