Children's Health Study (CHS) Sites: October 2003 Fire - Upland

This page updated September 7, 2010.

Below is a data plot of PM10 mass data for the Upland CHS site from October 20 to November 1.
The fires near Upland began around October 25. A cool weather front came in on October 28 and began to clear the air over Upland. Extremely high levels of PM10 mass occurred during the period between October 25 and October 27 compared to the relatively low summer "normal" seasonal PM10 mass during the preceding dates of October 20 to October 23. The difference between the normal summer conditions and the normal winter conditions can be seen on the graph by comparing the data from the pre-fire period of October 20-24 to the data following the rainy weather of October 30.
