Course #310: CalEPA Basic Inspector Academy

The California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) Basic Inspector Academy (BIA) is a free, three-and-a-half-day training class for environmental inspectors from state, local, and tribal agencies that implement environmental regulatory programs. BIA gives environmental inspectors the core skills necessary to conduct thorough, effective inspections, and implementation of environmental enforcement. Students apply what is learned in class as they complete mock-inspection and court-testimony exercises. To learn more about this class and the upcoming schedule, please view the Basic Inspector Academy Flyer.

A prerequisite to Course #310 (BIA) is the online Fundamental Inspector Course #300 (FIC). This FIC course takes approximately four to six hours to complete, and covers the role of the inspector; the science of environmental pollution; an overview of environmental law; and CalEPA agencies' roles and responsibilities. FIC must be completed before enrolling in BIA. For registration information about this prerequisite course, please visit: Fundamental Inspector Course Online.

Advance registration is required. Walk-ins will not be allowed. Registration will be declined for anyone not meeting the qualifications described above.
