The California Air Resources Board (CARB or Board) invites you to participate in a public workshop to discuss the Funding Agricultural Replacement Measures for Emission Reductions (FARMER) Program for fiscal year (FY) 2018-19.

In recognition of the strong need and the agricultural industry’s dedication to reducing their emissions, the State Legislature allocated $135 million to CARB from FY 2017-18. The State Legislature directed the use of the monies to reduce agricultural sector emissions by providing grants, rebates, and other financial incentives for agricultural harvesting equipment, heavy-duty trucks, agricultural pump engines, tractors, and other equipment used in agricultural operations. CARB staff has developed and begun implementing the FARMER Program to meet the State Legislature’s objectives and help meet the State’s criteria, toxic, and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals. 

In addition to the $135 million allocation from FY 2017-18 currently being implemented in the FARMER Program, the State Legislature has recognized the need for further investments in cleaner agricultural vehicles and equipment and has allocated an additional $132 million of the State’s budget to the FARMER Program for FY 2018-19. 

The purpose of this workshop is for CARB staff to provide stakeholders with an update on the implementation of the FARMER Program to date, including the recent expansion of the program through additional project categories, and provide an open discussion on the implementation of the FARMER Program for the upcoming year, including FY 2018-19 funding.
